Understanding Your Commuter Card Subsidy Cut-off

Introduction

If your Commuter Card for Parking or Commuter Card for Transit has a subsidy cut-off, it means that your employer will only fund the Employer Subsidy amount up until the indicated card balance. However, all of your elected pre-tax contributions will continue to accrue on the card regardless of the card's balance.

Viewing Subsidy Cut-offs for My Commuter Card

To view your Commuter Card’s subsidy cut-off, navigate to Commuter Cards on the left navigation menu. The subsidy cut-off is shown under your card’s remaining balance.

To learn how your employers subsidy cut-off will affect your Commuter Card benefit election, click on the info icon to the right of the subsidy cut-off amount. The example below shows a card balance that has exceeded the subsidy cut-off amount.

Viewing Subsidy Cut-offs for My Elected Benefits

To view information about how the Commuter Card’s subsidy cut-off may affect your elected benefits, navigate to Commuter Benefits on the left navigation menu. Click on Available Benefits if you haven't already elected a Commuter Card, or Elected Benefits if you have already elected a Commuter Card. 

Any subsidy cut-off applied to your benefit will be listed in bullet form as part of the benefit description.

My Employer Subsidy is at risk. What does that mean?

If your employer subsidy is at risk, it means your Commuter Card (Parking and/or Transit) has a remaining balance that is close to or above the subsidy cut-off. This means that your employer will only fund subsidy dollars up until the indicated subsidy cut-off card balance. Any of your elected pre-tax employee contributions will continue to accrue on the card as is.
